WhatsApp Will Soon Automatically Translate Your Conversations

WhatsApp Being Used on a Mobile Device By a Woman Holding the phone

WhatsApp, our favorite messaging app is constantly working on offering a better user experience to its users by adding useful features. It’s one of the reasons it is one of the most popular apps globally. Given such a vast user base, sometimes we can have trouble communicating with those who are not native speakers of our regional language. To fix this, WhatsApp has added automatic language translation.

As per the latest article by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp Beta version 2.25.4.5 for Android shows that the team is working on a feature for automatic message translation. This won’t require any input from the user. All your messages in a selected language will be automatically translated into your native language. In turn, making communication on the app more seamless.

The feature will require you to download a language pack for translation. This is also necessary as the app will process all the translation offline, on your device. This way, the privacy of your messages remains intact as WhatsApp has always ensured. You can always delete these language packs if you don’t feel the need for them anymore. However, we have no clue when this feature will be available as it is still in the beta phase.

How Automatic Message Translation Can Prove Useful on WhatsApp?

Honestly, I can see this feature being helpful in several situations. Let’s say that you are in a group chat, and someone there doesn’t speak your native tongue. So with the help of automatic translation, all the other group members will be able to easily connect with said person with minimal effort.

WhatsApp isn’t just a bare messaging app anymore, but also a way to connect with businesses. Therefore, I can see this feature being useful when trying to contact local businesses of other regions, or states. As someone who lives in India, it can be troublesome to connect with a local business in another state as they operate in their regional tongue. So with automatic language translation in WhatsApp, I can see myself connecting with them easily.

I am sure there are a lot of instances where this feature could prove useful. Hopefully, this update will arrive soon on everyone’s devices so we can all enjoy seamless messaging without any language barriers.
